The Kintsugi bowl displays the same powerful naturalness as the other pieces in the SHAN series. Its form unfolds like an open flower on a dark base, giving it a distinctive presence in any room.

The cracks that formed during the glaze firing were carefully highlighted with Kintsugi, dividing the form like leaf veins. SHAN unites rawness and refinement, simplicity and expression—a piece that exudes tranquility and attentiveness.

The original shards were joined using the traditional hon-kintsugi method with Urushi Japanese lacquer and wheat flour glue. The cracks were then painted over with Urushi Japanese lacquer and finished with 23.75-karat rose gold.

Fēier Wáng is a Berlin-based ceramic artist. She works with stoneware, creating earthy and organic ceramic pieces. All her work relates to nature, to simple and beautiful objects such as mountains, water, waves, stones, and flowers.

Her work is strongly influenced by her childhood, which she spent in a mountainous region of China. The curves of the mountain range, the roughness of the unpolished stones, and the ripples in the wind inspire her art.

In this collaboration with the artist, cracks that appear during the glaze firing are repaired using the Kintsugi technique. The shape and placement of the cracks are an integral part of the creative process and blend harmoniously into the overall aesthetic.
