This handcrafted piece is part of a series of objects created in collaboration with Tee Kontor Kiel, where broken ceramic and porcelain items are given a new life through the Kintsugi technique.
This Kintsugi cup is also available as a set with a Furoshiki by Yurika Saito. The cloth complements the ceramic with its subtle color gradient, highlighting the collaboration between the two workshops. The result is a set that seamlessly blends ceramic and textile, making it ideal for both gifting and personal use.
These cotton Furoshiki 風呂敷 textiles were hand-dyed using Kusaki-zome, a traditional Japanese natural dyeing method (草木染め) that utilizes plants and everyday materials.
TEA & RUST
Each piece was dyed with rust and repurposed tea leaves collected by tea sommelier Kwok Ying von Beuningen in Berlin.
Over time, the rust slowly penetrates the fibers and reacts with the tannins in the tea, creating unique colors and patterns that cannot be reproduced.
