Discover the art of kintsugi in a two-hour workshop in Berlin
Service Description
Participants create a picture in the style of the Japanese “Kintsugi” method, learning the “Maki-e” sprinkling technique to emphasize the broken areas with gold. At the same time, they deepen their understanding of the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, which appreciates beauty in imperfection. What's included: - Introduction to the traditional kintsugi method - Step-by-step instructions for creating a kintsugi picture - Provision of materials, tools, and aids - Cold and hot drinks What you'll take home: - A kintsugi picture that you have worked on. What else you need to know: Please bring long-sleeved work clothes. Aprons will be provided. Propanol (alcohol) is used in the workshop to clean the brushes and shards. If you have a known allergy to the fumes produced, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is not advisable to participate in the workshop. If you have reading glasses, you are welcome to bring them with you.
