The pieces were acquired by Sabine Rothe in the Bollhagen workshops in the early 1980s and have been in the family's possession ever since. The wear and tear, imperfections, cracks, and breaks tell the story of beloved and often-used everyday objects that, even broken, were still too precious to discard. All pieces have been made available to me since the fall of 2019 to be restored to their former beauty through Kintsugi.

The original shards were reassembled using the traditional Kintsugi method, using Urushi Japanese lacquer and glutinous rice glue. The cracks on the outside were painted over with Bengara Urushi and finished with 23.75-carat Rosenoble gold.
