The set is part of the “Goldrand 464 Punkte” series from Thomas Porzellan. The “F. Thomas” porcelain factory was acquired by Rosenthal in 1908, but retained the original name of its founder. Since the 1950s, Thomas has been consistently developed as a brand for young, design-oriented, and uncomplicated tableware. Until the 1980s, the Thomas collections were primarily influenced by Scandinavian design.

The “Goldrand 464 Punkte” series stands out with its Art Nouveau-inspired design and geometric pattern in the gold rim. The break lines of the Kintsugi technique create an exciting contrast.

The tableware was purchased second-hand and the breaks were added as part of the transformation process.
The original shards were joined together using the traditional Kintsugi method, with urushi Japanese lacquer and glue made from animal cartilage. On the outside, the cracks were painted over with bengara urushi using the traditional Kintsugi method and finished with bronze.
