The Kintsugi plate AKIZU (あきず) features a delicate motif, hand-painted with Urushi Japanese lacquer, depicting the intricate structure of a dragonfly's wing. The filigree network of lines overlays the porcelain surface, seemingly continuing the Kintsugi repair process—as if the break itself were becoming part of a living organism.
The interplay of fine drawing and golden lines lends AKIZU a poetic lightness. A quiet, powerful object that speaks of change, fragility, and the beauty of the irreplaceable.
The original shards were rejoined using the modern kan’i kintsugi technique with contemporary adhesive. The cracks on the outside were painted over with Urushi lacquer and finished with bronze.
