The pattern on the white and blue bowl ASA·NO·HA O·SARA あさ・の・は・お・さら is one of the traditional Japanese patterns from the Edo period and depicts the leaf of the hemp plant.
The original shards were joined together using the traditional kintsugi method, employing urushi Japanese lacquer and glue made from animal cartilage. On the outside, the cracks were painted over with bengara-Urushi and refined with 23.75 carat Rosenoble real gold.
This handmade piece is part of a series of objects created in cooperation with JAPANWELT: ceramic and porcelain items that were broken on their journey from Japan to Germany and given a new lease of life through the Kintsugi technique.
